| This is another in the series of tales about Redwall Abbey and the
folk who live there. The peace of the Abbey is spoiled by Mariel - a mouse who comes to
the Abbey looking for somewhere to rest. She was nearly drowned by the evil Gabool - a
very powerful rat who captains a fleet of ships that plunder for him. Mariel wants revenge
and she wants to free her father who is being held by Gabool on his island. The Redwallers can see that this young mouse needs help and a band of brave Redwallers join her on her quest. As they journey towards the island, they are joined by other brave creatures seeking their own revenge against Gabool. This is a very good book. I think that Brian Jaques has created an excellent world which I love visiting in each of his new books. Jan 2001 |
