This is a Puffin Classic book. It is made into a Puffin Classic if they think it is a VERY good book and this one certainly is!!!!!!!! It is a fiction book and it is quite scary in some parts! It has a lot of suspense and quite a few surprises.

In this story Dinah gets fostered. She has to go to the same school as Lloyd and Harvey.  Lloyd Tells Dinah that there is something queer about the school. Dinah soon finds out what he means!!!

The story is hard to put down and you seem entranced by it. My favourite chapter is when the S.P.L.A.T. organisation tries to stop Eddie Hair from getting to their school.

I think I liked Dinah's character best. She has a lot of the good ideas and seemed quite kind. A lot of the most exciting bits happen to her. She also has to be very brave.

The pictures in this version are black and white line drawings at the beginnings of chapters but they are good. It is an excellent cover by the excellent Mark Longworth!

I liked this book a lot and I would recommend it to kids from 7 to 10. Young kids might get scared and put off school!
