OPERATION GADGETMAN |

By Malorie Blackman |

| This
is a story about a girl called Beans (really it is Beatrice) and her Dad. She calls her
Dad Gadgetman because of all the daft things he invents. One day she comes home from
school and he is missing. Someone had dad-napped him!!!! hahahaha Beans and her friends
have to find out why and rescue him. I liked this book. It was a thriller crossed with an adventure I think. Malorie Blackman is a very good writer and she tries to make her stories very interesting and realistic. The kids in the books seem like real kids and say things like real kids say and she knows a lot of computer stuff which is interesting too and all about fingerprinting and detective work. My favourite bit is where the bad guys are in the house near the end and the girls fight them off with some of Dad's experimenting things - it is really funny! Beans has got to be my favourite character because she gets all the good ideas and stuff and it is her Dad who is in trouble but I would not like to be her because she is a girl and I would not like to be called "Beans"!! That's a daft name! There are pictures at the beginnings of the chapters - black and white drawings. They are good though and the one of Dad right at the beginning is my favourite when the animal crunchies are exploding. Iestyn Evans |
