I got this book off my great Granny as a Birthday present and I set to reading it straight away. A young hedgehog maid arrives at Redwall Abbey back in the time when Martin the Warrior was still alive. She brings with her a song telling of how Luke, a warrior mouse, slew a Fox and his hoard then sailed away to make sure they were all gone. Martin realises that the song is about his father and he becomes very excited and wants to know more.

As always, this book has songs and ballads and poems, which I enjoy very much and it has some good illustrations in black and white line drawing. This is the only copy of a Redwall book that I have in hard back! It was good to have a book with Martin the Warrior in, he is one of my all time favourite redwall characters and I was pleased to see him again.
