| Salamandastron
is a great book and the 7th that I have read in the Redwall series. It is mostly about a
Badger lord called lord Urthstripe. He lives in the extinct volcano known as
Salamandastron. Soon he and his group of fighting hares must defend the mountain/fortress
from Ferhago and his vermin horde called the 'Corpsemakers'!!!!!!!! Meanwhile the dreaded
dryditch fever has infested Redwall - will the peaceful group of animals be wiped out? I thought that this book was one of the best in the series (Pearls of Lutra, The Legend of Luke and now Salamandastron are my favourites). My favourite characters were Samkin the squirrel of Redwall, Sargent Sapwood the fighting hare and Lord Urthstripe the Badger Lord of Salamandastron. I thought Samkin was funny, brave and he stuck in my mind and you often wanted to find out about him. Brian Jaques made him a good character. I thought Urthstripe was a good character who was brave, strong, fierce and orderly. I always wanted to find out about the fight that he was having with Ferhago and if he would save the mountain.I thought that Sapwood was funny brave and just a really nice character with a nice reputation. Brian put a lot of description into him. I always new a lot about these three characters. I found this a very thrilling book with an awful lot of suspense. I would recommend it to people aged 7+. 7th March 2000 |
