I have read 4 books by Philip Ridley, ZinderZunder was the latest one.  The book was about a 10 year old boy and his mother (Mumzie as he calls her). His mother does not like what Max likes and does not think that tap-dancing, kiss-curls, shocking colours or smelly things are very ''razzmatazz'' He gets fed up with his parents and all the attention baby Fleur gets. He uses a ZinderZunder seed to make a wish come true and accidentally starts the trouble.

I think that this was an OK book but I did not think that much of it. It had the times of when everything happened so it was like a diary and you couldn't understand what  was going on all the time. The descriptions were not very good either so I would not have thought that the characters looked how they did in the book.

I would recommend this book to ages 7 and over but he has written better ones. I think that children under 7 might find it hard to understand.
