Elliot wishes that his mother was not just a boring old secretary and surprise, surprise - she's NOT! In fact she does secret computer work for people! Pretty soon she finds herself in deep trouble and in hiding from a pharmaceutical company and from the police. It is up to Elliot to try and help her and fortunately he has friends and he is excellent at computers.

This is a thriller, adventure book which is very exciting. I read it very quickly and could not wait to see what happened next! Mallorie Blackman is a very good author and she has won awards for some of her books. I liked all the suspense and action and excitement in the book. It made you think about things because not everyone or everything was what they seemed to be. There were good computer details and tricks with videos and code breaking. It taught you a lot about computer systems!

My favourite part of this book was when Halle biffed one of the bad guys near the end. It was funny and surprising - I thought they were in trouble! I liked it when Elliot was being chased too, it was very exciting, and he was sick afterwards! Elliot was my favourite character - he was the main character and he was good. He was sarcastic and funny like when his mum asked him what his favourite part of the park was and he answered that it was the fish and chip shop across the road!! He was also scared yet brave and he was quite clever for a kid. He never gave up and believed his mum was innocent all the way through.

I would recommend this book to children aged 7 and over, even adults may enjoy it quite a lot. It is not too hard to read but not easy either and it has a good plot and is very gripping.
