Well, this is me - I hate to have my photo taken so
make the most of it and click for the full size.

Why did I call this
"Mum's Page"? Why not something clever or witty? I have many interests and many
facets to my personality that I could have drawn on. The simple answer is that the title
of "Mum" is the most precious thing in the world to me. I count
no achievement greater, hold no award higher and have no greater pleasure than in
being Iestyn's "Mum".

That just about sums
me up I think , so you could move on elsewhere now if you like but
if you 'd like to stay and chat and find out some more about me, that would be lovely -
carry on ...

I LOVE this
internet thing. We've been connected since 1997 and I'm addicted. it is just a shame
that I have so little time for it at present. It's a wonderful insight into thousands of
peoples' lives and a great way to make friends. I have made some wonderful internet
friends over the last few years - really true kindred spirits who are very dear to me. I
have even be fortunate enough to meet up with some of them :)

Education - I have a
degree in Biochemistry from Imperial College but I
can't say I've done much with it. Shortly after graduating I took a "temporary"
post with the RNIB (blind association) as a braille transcriber and later a braille tutor
and examiner helping to produce academic braille text and examination papers. I loved it
and LOVED the people I worked with - Hi if you're reading! The company relocated out of
London and I got Pregnant!!
If you're interested
in infertility go here-

After six years as a
"stay-at-home Mum" I started working as a teaching assistant in my son's school.
I now also help with the teaching of science to the older children.
(We don't really use
that term in Britain but I wish we did. Staying at home is beginning to become very
looked-down-upon here - comments anyone??)

There are many things
I enjoy - here are just a few ..
Reading
- mainly fantasy and sci-fi but I also love classics -Jane Austin in particular- and
books which follow peoples' lives - "The Shipping News" , "Rape of the Fair
Country", "Gone With the Wind", "I know why the Caged Bird Sings"
or "The Colour Purple" for example.
Dragons - all fantasy really but dragons and
unicorns have a special place. I like reading about them,
watching fantasy films, playing D+D, Diabolo etc - not that I get much time to indulge in
role playing since Iestyn was born.
-Wales - I was born there and I miss it - see my
special Wales page. Castles I love no matter where they are - the older the better and I
like them best when they're a bit ruined but not just a few foundation stones. I'm less
interested in stately homes.
Films
- again I like the older ones best - Cary Grant, Katherine Hepburn, Spencer
Tracey, Gene Kelly - I love Musicals. More up to date - Barbra Streisand, Mel Gibson,
Anthony Hopkins, Goldie Hawn, Chris O' Donnell, Whoopie Goldberg, Jodie Foster, Arnie (not
the violent ones), loads really I guess. Favourite films include - Gone with the Wind, The
Colour Purple, Meet me in St Louis, It's a Wonderful life, Seven Brides for Seven
Brothers, Toy Story, Grease, Arsenic and old Lace - I could go on forever. Favourite TV
includes - soaps, Period Dramas, Friends, Third Rock from the Sun, Frasier, Wildlife.
Music -more complicated - I like lots of individual songs but
often can't even remember the artist. I like things from classical to heavy rock. I hate
Punk and I'm not keen on Rap. I play a lot of Christian praise music if I play anything at
all or relaxing music like Enya, Clannad, Alan Parsons Project. I like Five, Robbie
Williams, The Corrs and Hearsay so I can be "modern" too LOL. Does anyone know
anything about Eric Bikales? I bought a lovely tape by him when we were in New York in
1987 and I've never found anything else by him. - mail me. (He was kind enough to mail me
himself!!! and point me in the direction of some of his newer work - thanks
Eric!)See my tribute page to some of my music heroes.
Family - My pride and joy. Iestyn is like a best friend as well as a son. We have very similar
likes and dislikes - except I do not have a desire to play ball games and I have no
feelings towards Batman at all! - Mind you he doesn't go in for cooking or knitting that
much. We have great fun together and love exploring London and all its museums. Kerry works hard but if he can manage to join us its even more
fun.
Wildlife - I
love nature and belong to several conservation groups. I love
strolling through the countryside or sitting out late at night waiting for the bats, foxes
and hedgehogs.
People
- I love meeting people and making new friends. If you
mail me and leave your url, I shall do my best to come and explore your piece of
virtuality. The good intention is always there but the time and pc availability is a
little less reliable! Sadly we are hardly ever on line at the moment.
Please continue to
explore our home - go and see some of my other pages. Do pop in on Iestyn.
God Bless
