Running production support section of London IT department totalling around 60 staff providing desktop and application support to the whole securities business, both front and back office. Major applications supported include Gloss HV, Murex, Fidessa & Summit. One of four senior managers running IT department in London.

Feb 2001 - Sep 2001 Head Of London IT Production Support

Running two teams totalling around 30 staff providing desktop and application support to London Back/Middle Office. Major application support task is a Gloss HV installation supporting business in London, Frankfurt and New York.

June 1997 - Feb 2001 Tokyo-Mitsubishi International

Sept 2000 – Feb 2001  Senior Manager  – Futures /CRM Systems

Month-long contingency review for senior management of alternative options for the Syn~ project due to the continuing technical problems with the project.

Conducted an evaluation of potential replacements for TMI’s Exchange Traded Futures and Options back office systems for an intended implementation prior to August 2001. Deliverable was a 5 year costed replacement plan and recommendation on system selection.

Then commenced a CRM system selection process, establishing basic business requirements and conducting survey of potential vendors. Continued working on next phase of Futures project.

Oct 1999 – Sept 2000 Senior Manager   Syn~ Project and Gloss
The Syn~ project is the 100% Java replacement for Gloss. Managing 1 team continuing the live support of Gloss and 4 development teams building the business functionality for Syn~, using DSDM to manage the project. 1st delivery Equity Settlements due Nov. 2000. This is the largest development project ever undertaken by Tokyo-Mitsubishi International.

January 1997 – Oct 1999 Senior Manager
Responsible for the day to day management and enhancement of the  Wilco Gloss Settlement System, with a staff of 5 + self. Current enhancements planned/in progress include equity processing, repo feed from Bloomberg trading system, automated settlement on receipt of advice from Euroclear and link to fax gateway. Other recent enhancements included preparation for EMU compliance on Gloss. Managing TMI's relationship with Wilco.

Selection and installation (by 3rd party) of middleware system for communication to SWIFT. Negotiation with vendors for this system, and with O-O/development tool vendors. Managing 2 consultants in ongoing investigations of the uses for O-O technology at TMI.

Managing the selection, planning and installation of the JAVA/Corba/OO based replacement

June 1997 - December 1997 Bond Applications Manager

Responsible for the day to day management of the  Wilco Gloss Settlement System and installation of Bloomberg trade feed. Managed a team of five, and relations with both Wilco and Bloomberg.

May 1995 - June 1997 Synopsys Ltd.

October 1996 - June 1997 Project Team Leader

Working on one of Synopsys' most prestigious projects and responsible for functional and technical design of enhancements to the RIMS settlement system. This included the strategic design of new functional areas of the product and bespoke developments for the particular client.

Managing a team of 7 analyst/programmers through the implementation, testing and installation of the required enhancements to a very demanding time scale. Supporting the users through the various stages of confidence, acceptance and integration testing.

March 1996 - September 1996 RIMS Help Desk Manager

Set up and managed the RIMS help desk, providing assistance to our live clients, managing bug fixes, analysing, designing, coding and installing small and medium sized projects. My team of up to five Analyst/Programmers worked on Oracle Forms, Reports, stored procedures and 'C' processes.

September 1995 - March 1996 RIMS Client Liaison

I was the primary liaison with the first client to install version 1.5 of RIMS and supported them through the final stages of development work on their project and then throughout their successful conversion from version 1.3.

Development work included analysis, design and coding of RIMS interface to the COBRA CAD reporting system. This project was implemented on time and under budget.

May 1995 - September 1995 Senior Analyst Programmer

Member of the project team for first client implementation of RIMS version 1.5 , analysis, design and coding in 'C', SQL and Oracle forms. Worked on accounting, client confirmations and Swift messaging.

October 1994 - March 1995 Senior Analyst/Programmer

Member of the Regulatory Systems team, with responsibility for the redesign, and recoding of the current UNIX/Sybase ISMA reporting software to make it a generic trade reporting system. Also involved in the design work to implement ETC for Fixed Income.

October 1991 - October 1995 Senior Analyst/Programmer

Managed the support work for the Stratus Front office Trade Entry system mentioned below, which was undertaken by myself and contractors. I also worked on its replacement with a new Unix/Sybase system. I was on the design team for the new trading database, and managed the implementation of a new Unix based ISMA reporting system supplied by an external software house.

The Stratus system managed position keeping, trader and salesman entry, external and internal reporting for a wide range of mostly fixed income instruments. At its peak it processed 15,000 transactions (trades and buy/sells) per day and had over 100 users in 6 countries.

September 1988 - October 1991 Analyst/Programmer

I worked on the design, development, implementation and support of the Front /Middle Office trading system for our Fixed Income dealers. This system was on a Stratus server written mostly in Cobol with some 'C', with a user interface for the traders on a PC running Microsoft Windows on a Novell LAN.

I was involved throughout the project, from the initial design through the implementation and then on into user support. I wrote large parts of the 'C'/Windows front end and was responsible for work on all aspects of the system. My work included agreeing schedules with users, estimating and specifying projects, coding, testing , managing the   implementation, and supporting the live application.

July 1988 - August 1988 Analyst/Programmer

Programming work on the interface of an already existing MicroFocus Cobol/Novell back office system to a Stratus equities trading system, and on maintenance of the back office system.

March 1987 - June 1988 Analyst/Programmer

Maintenance of existing back office systems. These were on both IBM System/36 and IBM 4381 and were written mainly in Cobol. I worked on both Eurobond and Gilt systems. For the last 6 months of this period I was solely responsible for the maintenance of the Gilts system, half of which was written in RPGII

I am married with one child. I am a car driver with a clean licence. I am an active Christian and a member of the PA committee at my sons school. Since September 1996 I have been a parent governor of my son's school. Since being elected to the governing body I have served on the interview panel selecting a new deputy for the Infants school. I was elected Chair of Governors in October 1999
